What is Apportable?

We’re developing a powerful software engine that ports iOS games to Android automatically, without extensive changes to the original Objective-C or C++ code.

We launched our first ported game in January 2012, which resulted in a #1 game in category spot on the Android Market and hundreds of thousands of new users in the first two months.

Our office

We work and code in San Francisco’s SOMA district at 880 Harrison St. Suite 203.

Come drop by and visit us! We love to show off our latest creations.

We all take our fun seriously, whether that means company trips to Tahoe, miniature helicopter battles, or StarCraft after-hours.

Meet the Apportable Team!

Android Collin
Collin Jackson - Collin makes sure everything goes according to plan, much like he did during his years as a head judge at international Magic: The Gathering pro tournaments. He's engaged in lots of cross-platformery for good people like the Google Chrome team and Cooliris. He's also been known to break the Internet once in a while with his web security research hacks at Carnegie Mellon. He is widely admired for his many abilities but mainly because he requires less sleep than most humans.

Android Ian
Ian Fischer - Ian spent a little while trying to balance a PhD program at UC Berkeley with being CTO at Apportable; thankfully, Apportable won out. This is not the first time that Ian has succumbed to the siren’s song of tech entrepreneurship - he was the founding engineer at security systems startup Usable, which was later acquired by Webroot Software. Speaking of siren songs, Ian also has serious vocal chops and sings baritone in the San Francisco opera scene.

Android Rhett
Rhett Aultman - Rhett was born, raised, and educated in Florida, a magic land where people ride alligators to work and school (or so he tells us). At Apportable, Rhett splits his time between porting apps and working on cross-language library development. In his spare time, he’s happy gliding across ocean waves or mountain powder. When he’s in an indoor-ish mood, he blows glass and produces video for the local roller derby league (under the pseudonym “Cecil B. De Shill”).

Android Philippe

Philippe Hausler - Philippe can’t turn down a hard problem or three when it comes to Apportable’s app porting software, so he masterminds projects like bringing UIKit to Android and creating our custom compiler for Objective-C code. Computers listen to him because he makes it very clear (via threatening gestures) what will happen to them if they don’t. Philippe is an amateur brewer and has been know to offer home-brewed pumpkin ale to his Apportable teammates.

Android Marc
Marc Salem - Marc is Apportable’s resident lanky Australian. In his engineering duties, he works on a little bit of everything. Marc moved to the Bay Area after stints at Motorola Labs and Cisco, whereupon he promptly dove into the startup world. His enthusiasm for startups is matched in his spare time by his love of scuba diving and skiing. Shortly after joining Apportable, Marc got married. Coincidence?

Android Chinmay

Chinmay Garde - Chinmay is Philippe’s partner-in-crime when it comes to UIKit, and he also works on Apportable’s implementation of the Skia graphics library. He hails from India, where he became obsessed with mobile development before graduating college and moving to the Bay Area. He has a keen competitive edge and has won several large-scale coding competitions. He can often be found plugging away at the StarCraft II online ladder after-hours at the Apportable office, furiously pwning n00bs.

Android Christina
Christina Kelly - Christina is Apportable’s token non-engineer and has a hand in community management, customer support, recruiting, developer communication, and more. She lives in an amazing LAN party-optimized house, which is also where she stores her archery equipment and various Android-themed collectibles. She came to Apportable after being bewitched by the beauty of Osmos on her Galaxy Nexus.

Are you next? Apportable is growing fast and we're always on the lookout for great engineering talent. If you've got what it takes, find out more about opportunities at Apportable.
